Pioneer Cup

Stage One

The Pioneer Cup is VRML's FIRST Orion Drift Tournament in collaboration with Another Axiom! We are excited to have so many teams signed up for the Pioneer Cup. With 200+ teams that are signed up, this tournament is regionally split so there will be information depending on your region. Formatting will remain consistent throughout all regions. The Pioneer Cup is starting with a Swiss Style Qualifier bracket for each region that will be played on Saturday, May 3rd. The second stage is a Round Robin Style bracket. the NA/EU top 8 teams and OCE top 4 teams will battle through their respective groups. Once the first stage is over, they will move into single elimination until the Final match of the Pioneer Cup. Find more details below as well as bracket displays.

Saturday: Swiss Style Qualifer Bracket

All teams that have signed up to participate in the Pioneer Cup will be participating in this Swiss Style bracket. Respective to their regions, teams will be randomly assigned to the bracket and will play through a pre-determined # of rounds once the bracket has been generated. Teams are expected to play through the whole tournament to best determine seeding for next stage in the Pioneer Cup.  This tournament will begin at times respective their their regions.

OCE/APAC - 2025-05-03 06:00
EU - 2025-05-03 16:00
NA - 2025-05-03 22:00. 

Stage Two

Sunday: Round Robin Bracket

Respective to their regions, the top 8 teams for NA/EU and top 4 for OCE/APAC will be placed into a Round Robin bracket based on their seedings after the Swiss Style Qualifier concludes. This tournament will begin at times respective to their regions. Below you can find how the Round Robin Bracket will progress with respect to their region:

OCE/APAC RR:
The top 4 teams will be placed into a Round Robin bracket. Teams will be placed based on seeding once Stage One has concluded.  Once the RR bracket has concluded, the top two team will move into a single elimination bracket to determine to winner of the Pioneer Cup for the OCE/APAC region.

EU/NA RR:
The top 8 teams will be placed into a Round Robin bracket that is separated into 2 groups. Teams will be placed based on seeding once Stage One has concluded. The two groups will be:

Group A: Seed 1, Seed 4, Seed 5, Seed 8
Group B: Seed 2, Seed 3, Seed 6, Seed 7

Once the two groups have concluded the top two teams from each group will continue and play an additional single elimination match to determine the top two teams. The matches would then be the following:

Match 1: Group A Team 1 vs Group B Team 2
Match 2: Group B Team 1 vs Group A Team 2

The top two teams would then move onto the final match and determine the winner of the Pioneer Cup for their respective region.
